Faculty of Pharmaceutical

Faculty of Pharmaceutical was founded in 1999. Professor Alexander Tsurkan, PharmD, was appointed the first dean of the faculty and held that post up until 2003.

The work on organization and preparation of the creation of the Pharmaceutical faculty’s departments was carried out by Iryna Tkachuk (Brubaker) (associate professor, PhD in Pharmacy), who was the dean of the faculty in 2003-2008.

The first departments of the faculty:

– Department of Drug Technology

– Department of Organization and Economics of Pharmacy

– Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Pharmacognosy

The first graduation in the specialty 7.12020101 “Pharmacy” took place in 2004. In 2005, part-time studies begin. These studies are designed primarily for those who work works in the direction of the future specialty or already received their “junior specialist” degree in that specialty. Education at the faculty creates prospects for their professional growth and improvement. A characteristic feature of our time is the increase in the number of young people who want to study simultaneously in several specialties, and part-time form of study gives them such an opportunity.

After receiving a diploma of higher education, graduates of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical also have the opportunity to take part in internship training, and then, after receiving a certificate, work in various positions in pharmacies, control and analytical laboratories, medical equipment stores, at pharmacy bases, chemical and pharmaceutical enterprises, in environmental, clinical, laboratory, forensic chemical and forensic medical institutions, medical institutions, customs services and research institutions. Those who want to improve their scientific level can enroll to postgraduate studies.

Teaching disciplines of the “Pharmacy, Industrial Pharmacy” educational and professional program is being handled by highly qualified teachers of the University’s departments:

– 11 Doctors of Sciences (including 5 Professors)

– 18 PhDs (including 10 Associate professors and 1 senior researcher)

– 7 assistants

– 8 senior teachers

Olena Oleksiivna Khomych is a Doctor of Philosophy, PhD, in specialty 226 ‘Pharmacy, Industrial Pharmacy’ and the provisor of higher qualification category from the specialty ‘Organization and management of pharmacy’.

In 2006 she graduated from the National Medical University named after O. O. Bogomolets from the specialty ‘Pharmacy’ and got a qualification of provisor.

From 2006 to 2010 she was working in the Civil Service of Ukraine of medicines and drug control in the Management licensing and compliance with license requirements.

From 2010 to 2022 she led the utility company ‘Boryspil central pharmacy number 24’. She was the head of the internship base for provisors-interns and the supervisor of the production practices of students-pharmacists.

In 2020 at the National Academy Postgraduate Education named after P. L. Shupyk (P.L. Shupyk National University of Health Care of Ukraine) defended her dissertation on the theme: ‘Development of the composition and technology of a medicine in the form of a syrup glucosamine hydrochloride and levocarnitine’ and obtain a doctor’s degree of philosophy, PhD, in specialty 226 ‘Pharmacy, Industrial Pharmacy’.

O. O. Khomych is the author of over 20 scientific works in domestic and foreign editionals, including a study guide and the Patent of Ukraine for invention.

O. O. Khomych is a member of the attestation commission of provisors and pharmacists at the State Service of Ukraine for Medicinal Products in the Kyiv region.

She was awarded charters of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the state administration of the Kyiv region and Boryspil.

The Faculty of Pharmacy trains applicants for higher education. Currently, 246 full-time, evening and part-time students study at the faculty.

Training takes place according to the educational and professional program for the preparation of applicants for the second (master’s) level of higher education in the specialty 226 “Pharmacy, industrial pharmacy” of the field of knowledge 22 “Health care,” educational qualification “Master of Pharmacy.”

The educational and professional program provides for the formation of the ability to apply the acquired knowledge, skills and skills in the disciplines of general and professional training to solve the typical tasks of a specialist in the relevant position, including the manufacture of medicines, their storage, quality control, delivery, distribution, issuance, regulation of drug supply, as well as counseling, providing information on medicines and monitoring of side effects and/or inefficiency of drug therapy.

The main functions of the pharmaceutical dean’s office:

–        Organization of the educational process according to the educational – professional program in accordance with state standards of higher education;

–        Coordinates the activities of educational and scientific units that are part of the Faculty of Pharmacy;

–        Supervises the quality of work of pedagogical, scientific – pedagogical, scientific and other employees of the faculty;

–        Analyzes the current and final success of higher education applicants;

–        Control over the organization of training and production practices;

–        Forms a contingent of people studying at the faculty, organizes and conducts career guidance work;

–        Organizes and conducts training and scientific seminars and conferences;

–        Advises students of the Faculty of Pharmacy on the organization of the educational process, academic and financial debt;

–        Makes proposals to the Rector of the University to transfer to the next course, deduction, renewal, granting academic leave to applicants for higher education;

–        Issues orders on the activities of the Faculty of Pharmacy, which are mandatory for all participants in the educational process of the Faculty of Pharmacy.
