Kyiv Medical University at the 9th EAHL Conference

This fall, Kyiv Medical University (KMU) participated in the 9th Conference of the European Association of Health Law (EAHL), held at the University of Warsaw. The conference, titled “Health and Fundamental Rights,” brought together experts in medical law, healthcare, and human rights from across Europe and beyond. Organized in collaboration with the World Association for Medical Law (WAML), it provided a vital platform for discussing pressing issues and fostering collaboration.

We are especially grateful to the organizers for highlighting Ukraine’s healthcare challenges during these difficult times. KMU shared ideas on how the global medical law community can support Ukraine in strengthening its healthcare system, building resilience, and preparing for recovery. It is essential to ensure that Ukraine remains on the global agenda, and we look forward to future collaborations to advance healthcare and human rights.

A significant milestone of the conference was establishing cooperation with Prof. Leszek Bosek, a distinguished Polish lawyer and professor of social sciences in the discipline of law. Prof. Bosek serves in the Department of Civil Law at the Faculty of Law and Administration, University of Warsaw. He is also a Supreme Court Judge and was the President of the General Counsel to the Republic of Poland from 2016 to 2018. Currently, he leads the Center for Medical Law and Biotechnology at the University of Warsaw, bringing extensive expertise to the collaboration.

We look forward to working with Prof. Bosek and other esteemed experts to strengthen KMU’s contributions to healthcare law and to support the resilience and recovery of Ukraine’s healthcare system.
