KMU Scientific Society – a Hub of Strength, Ideas, and Action in WartimeThe team of the Scientific Society of Kyiv Medical University, at the invitation of the Council of Young Scientists of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, participated in a survey for the preparation of the Book “Councils of Young Scientists – 2024. Best Practices and Stories of Recognition.” Here are some key points we shared: Faced with emotional burnout, lack of resources, and psychological pressure, we focused on mental health, international opportunities, and digital formats of scientific interaction. Our online events, mobility support, lectures on emotional well-being, and peer support groups have become tools of adaptation and growth. We are initiating projects in the field of military medicine, rehabilitation of the wounded, and medical-psychological assistance. Our research on restoring walking after limb amputations in servicemen is an example of applied science with a strong humanitarian mission. In 2024, we held a large scientific-practical conference that gathered over 200 participants. The event became a platform for practical knowledge exchange, mutual support, and collaboration. Today, the Scientific Society includes 26 active members. Everyone here can grow, receive mentorship, join international initiatives, and develop essential soft skills in management, communication, and organization. The admission process is open and simple. We have not stood aside from the war — we support the Armed Forces of Ukraine, collect humanitarian aid, assist colleagues who joined the army, and prepare research for post-war recovery. We plan to enhance scientific diplomacy, advocate for science at the state level, and create a platform for youth initiatives with real social impact. We believe that even in the most challenging conditions, young scientists can be the drivers of change, creators of new solutions, and guardians of the future.
