Happy Day of the Republic of Turkey!

On October 29, Turkey celebrates the Republic Day, the country’s main national holiday. On this day, in 1923, the collapse of the Ottoman Empire was officially announced, the Constitution of Turkey was amended and the independent Turkish Republic was established. Its first president was the leader of the Turkish nationalist movement, General Mustafa Kemal. He carried out a series of reforms that made Turkey the first secular state among Muslim countries.

Today, Turkey’s economy is one of the 20 largest economies in the world. It is planned that the country will be able to enter the Top-10 by 2023 (100th anniversary of the republic). Turkey is one of Ukraine’s most important trading partners.

Currently, about 80 Turkish students study at Kyiv Medical University. Also, the Turkish diaspora of Ukraine consists of about 9,000 people.
