Department of Pharmacology and PharmacotherapyMarchenko-Tolsta К. (senior lecturer) In 2010, graduated from Kyiv National Medical University of Ukraine, and 2016, started working as an assistant in the Department of pharmacology, clinical pharmacology, and pathological physiology. The direction of scientific research: treatment of rheumatoid arthritis in patients with comorbid pathology and the combined use of anti-rheumatic, anti-inflammatory, and antihypertensive drugs. Author and co-author of 20 scientific articles. Performs dissertation work for obtaining the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the specialty – of pharmacology “Effectiveness and safety of immunosuppressants and amlodipine in experimental rheumatoid arthritis comorbid with arterial hypertension”.
The department has 1 professors, 3 associate professors (PhD), 1 assistant (PhD) and 2 senior teachers, 4 assistants and 1 senior laboratory technician.
Lectures and practical classes are held for interns, postgraduate students and students of the 3rd and 5th year Medical, 3rd-5th year Pharmacy and International faculties, 2nd-4th year Dental faculty students. The following disciplines are taught at the department:
Training materials are available at the department in two languages (Ukrainian and English) for all disciplines. The teachers of the department are working according to the training guides and journals accompanied by methodological recommendations for students in practical sessions, independent activity, as well as for distance learning courses. Students are constantly evaluated by MCQ for each discipline, according to which they are permitted to give a first step of exam. The department is constantly improving the educational process, applying the latest teaching methods (trainings, games, video cases). The lecturers of the department created the multimedia lecture support, which they constantly update for all taught disciplines. In order to help the students, the staff of the department published the methodological manuals “Workbook of Pharmacology” and “Workbook of Pathophysiology” (in 3 languages), the “KROK is easy” medical manual, and an English-language glossary for preparing students to step forward. A stand “Domestic Medicines” and a collection of medicines of various pharmacological groups were also created. Over the past 10 years, the teachers of the department took part in the preparation and publication of: 2 textbooks “Pharmacology” (2013, 2017), 4 textbooks “Fundamentals of Pharmacognosy and Phytotherapy” (2015), “Modern Encyclopedia of Traditional and Alternative Medicine” (2016), “Herbal Medicines in Clinical Practice and Traditional Medicine” (2017), “Introduction to Herbal Medicine – Aspects of Pharmacognosy” (2019). In order to implement the scientific theme of the department, “Experimental principle of the mechanisms of action and pharmacological effects of biologically active substances”, the staff published 100 articles, materials and abstracts over the past 5 years, some of which can be found in professional and scientometric databases (Scopus and WoS). The department carries out 1 dissertation work, specialty 03.14.05 – Pharmacology “Efficiency and safety of immuno-suppressants and amlodipine for experimental arterial hypertension comorbidity in rheumatoid arthritis.” The “Influence of central cholinergic systems on the course of the acute period of traumatic brain injury” PhD dissertation was submitted for defense by Khudoliya S. to the special council 14.03.04 of Pathological Physiology. Over the past 5 years, students-members of the department’s scientific circle took part in student competitions and received diplomas and certificates at the International and All-Ukrainian congresses, symposia and conferences of young scientists and students. The department strives for interdisciplinary integration – a cooperation agreement has been concluded with the State Institute of Pharmacology and Toxicology of the Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, on the basis of which the department staff, students and members of the student scientific circle take part in the experiments. In 2014, the Department of Drug Technology, Organization and Economics of Pharmacy was merged with the Department of Pharmacology. This resulted in creation of the Department of Pharmacology, Pathophysiology, Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacy, Drug Technology, headed by Professor Viktor Tumanov. In March 2019, in accordance with the decision of the Academic Council and the order for the University, two departments were reorganized and formed: The Department of Pharmacology, Clinical Pharmacology, Pathological Physiology and the Department of Pharmaceutical Management, Clinical Pharmacy, Drug Technology.
