Our new victoryOn October 6, 2020, a representative of the Regional English Language Office (RELO) of Embassy of the United States of America in Ukraine officially announced the victory of Kyiv Medical University to receive a grant from the American Government to develop and implement the “Professional English for Healthcare Workers” program with Georgia State University, America House та American Council! The U.S. Embassy in Ukraine is providing a University grant to implement a partnership project between the U.S. and Ukrainian Educational Establishment to improve the language skills of higher medical and postgraduate education, as well as health professionals at the regional and national levels by mastering two modes: Basic Science Mode and Clinical Medicine Mode. The partnership with Georgia State University (USA) will provide an opportunity to provide additional conditions for the development and support of all participants in the educational process in the field of medical education and science in Ukraine, namely:
The results of such collaboration with Georgia State University will form the basis for the creation of a modern professional language center at the University for health professionals with the involvement of professors from the United States as native speakers, which will significantly improve the quality of teaching. The idea was developed and implemented by a creative focus group which included: Rector of Kyiv Medical University, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Ivnev B.B., Operations Director, Master of Public and Healthcare Administration Potii O.O. and Head of Education Quality Monitoring Department, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Member of the Association for Medical Education in Europe (AMEE) Shmargalyov A.O. headed by the President of the University, Master of International Policy and Management in Health and Public Administration Pokanevych O.V. The President of the University pursues a policy of internationalization, implementation of the principles of world education, integration into the European and world educational space, which is impossible without the knowledge of English. So, the program will be available to all students and staff of Kyiv Medical University, which is more than 3,000 medical students, about 700 interns, 900 teachers – doctors, dentists, emergency physicians and physical rehabilitation specialists.
