On April 9, 2026, Kyiv Medical University, within the framework of the “KMU Voices” project, once again opened a space for dialogue on the future of medicine, where medical law, innovation, and artificial intelligence intersect

This time, our academic community had a unique opportunity to hear from Dr. Sofia Palmieri from Harvard University— an expert who explores how technologies are transforming medical ethics, legal standards, and the very logic of modern clinical practice.

Our distinguished guest, Dr. Sofia Palmieri delivered a thought-provoking lecture: “Standard of Care: Is AI a Game Changer?”

Key takeaways from the event:

  • The evolving role of artificial intelligence in defining modern standards of care;
  • Key legal and ethical considerations surrounding AI-supported clinical decisions;
  • Challenges, risks, and accountability in adopting AI in healthcare practice;
  • International approaches to ensuring innovation aligns with safety, equity, and patient protection.

The event brought together the academic communities of KMU’s Polish and Main campuses. Additionally, participants joined via the “YustonInfo” provider platform, further expanding the geographic reach and professional diversity of the audience.

The discussion highlighted how crucial it is for future healthcare professionals to understand not only medical innovation, but also its legal and ethical implications.

We thank Dr. Sofia Palmieri for her valuable insights and all participants for contributing to a vibrant and meaningful conversation.

This lecture became another important step in exploring how medicine and law evolve together in the age of AI.
