Kyiv Medical University Opens Enrolment for International Students in the “General Medical Practice” Primary Specialization Programme

Kyiv Medical University is now accepting applications from international students for the “General Medical Practice” primary specialization programme. The programme is designed for graduates of medical institutions of higher education who wish to acquire modern, practical competencies as family physicians in accordance with the requirements of the Ukrainian medical education system. Instruction is available in either Ukrainian or English, making the programme accessible to graduates from around the world. Applications are currently being accepted.

Tuition Fees and Programme Duration

Tuition fees have been set as follows:

  • Ukrainian-language track — USD 3,360; programme duration 12 months;
  • English-language track — USD 4,800; programme duration 12 months.

Modern, Practice-Oriented Training
The programme’s goal is to develop the professional competencies of a general practitioner through a combination of thorough theoretical training and practical instruction. Training is conducted according to individualised curricula at the clinical departments of Kyiv Medical University. For students studying in English, the educational process is led by faculty members who are proficient in English at a level of B2 or higher and who provide clinical care at the university’s clinical sites.

Upon successful completion of the programme, graduates receive a certificate of completion for the primary specialization programme in “General Medical Practice.”

Who Can Apply
Foreign citizens and stateless persons who have received a medical education in Ukraine or abroad are eligible for admission. Admission is granted without participation in the ranking-based allocation of graduates to residency programmes, based on a personal application submitted to Kyiv Medical University.

Required Documents
To apply, you must submit:

  • an application for admission;
  • a copy of your medical degree (for documents issued abroad — a translation into Ukrainian and documents confirming their recognition in Ukraine in accordance with current legislation);
  • copies of certificates for the “Krok 1” and “Krok 2” integrated testing exams (if available);
  • for applicants choosing to study in Ukrainian — a document confirming a sufficient level of proficiency in the state language in accordance with Ukrainian law.

Deadlines and Organisation of Studies

  • Applications for admission, for the purpose of issuing an enrolment order, are accepted until 20 September of the current year;
  • studies begin on 1 September or according to an individual schedule;
  • training may begin no later than 1 November of the current year;
  • programme duration: 12 months;
  • studies are conducted according to an individual plan combining theoretical and practical training.

Assessment
The programme includes ongoing assessment, midterm evaluation, and a final assessment. The final assessment consists of two stages: a written exam (in the national language and/or English) and a practical skills exam with an interview. Upon successful completion of the assessment, the student receives a certificate of completion of the primary specialization programme, together with an appendix specifying the duration of study, the list of educational components, and the scope of training.
