Kyiv Medical University — Among the Pioneers of International Accreditation of Educational Programs in Ukraine

Following amendments to Ukrainian legislation that established a mechanism for recognizing the results of accreditation of educational programs conducted by reputable foreign accreditation agencies, Ukrainian universities have gained new opportunities to integrate into the European and international quality assurance framework.

The relevant provisions were introduced by the Law of Ukraine “On Education” No. 2145-VIII of September 5, 2017, which amended the Law of Ukraine “On Higher Education.” Article 25 of the Law of Ukraine “On Higher Education” provides for the recognition in Ukraine of accreditation certificates for educational programs issued by designated foreign accreditation agencies. The list of such agencies was approved by Resolution No. 554-r of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated July 10, 2019.

Kyiv Medical University became one of the pioneers of this process among Ukrainian higher education institutions in the field of healthcare, systematically using international accreditation as an instrument for independent confirmation of the quality of its educational programs.

And this work continues. The latest achievement is the continuation of the international accreditation of the Master’s degree program “Pharmacy, Industrial Pharmacy” by the German agency AHPGS — Accreditation Agency in Health and Social Sciences. According to the certificate dated May 11, 2026, the accreditation of the program has been confirmed until September 30, 2027.

For KMU, international accreditation is not a one-time event, but a systematic and continuous process. We continue to subject our educational programs to international evaluation, implement European approaches to quality assurance, develop academic mobility, and strengthen the integration of Ukrainian medical education into the European educational space.

Our goal is to ensure that the quality of Ukrainian medical education not only meets national standards, but also receives systematic independent international confirmation and recognition.
