KMU students are taking part in the German-Ukrainian Surgical Summer School 2026 in Germany!

Students from Kyiv Medical University are completing an international clinical internship at Universitätsklinikum Schleswig-Holstein (UKSH) in Lübeck, one of Europe’s leading university hospitals.

Over the course of a month, they are working alongside German surgeons, assisting during operations, taking part in clinical conferences and hands-on training sessions, and learning about the latest medical technologies, including the HUGO RAS robotic surgery system.

The internship includes training in polytrauma and orthopaedics, plastic and reconstructive surgery, cardiovascular surgery, and thoracic surgery.

Representing KMU are:

  • Maksym Ostroumov — 5th-year student
  • Oleh Nahornyi — 5th-year student
  • Anton Babych — 5th-year student
  • Dariia Liong Van — 4th-year student, KMU Polish Campus

We sincerely thank Universitätsklinikum Schleswig-Holstein (UKSH) and the surgical teams for supporting Ukrainian students.

Special thanks go to Professor Tobias Keck, Director of the Department of Visceral Surgery, as well as Associate Professor Tetiana Formanchuk and Professor Ulrich Wellner, the initiators and coordinators of the project.

We are proud of our Kyiv Medical University students and wish them a successful internship, new knowledge, and continued professional growth!
