Zoya Veselovskaya, MD, professor, Academician of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, Winner of the State Prize of the Ukrainia, Honored Doctor of Ukraine, president of Ukrainian Glaucoma Society, the member of Presidia European Glaucoma Society.

Zoya Veselovskaya is a well known ophthalmologist in the field of cataract surgery with intraocular correction, corneal transplantation, orbital sugery, glaucoma treatment, diabetic retinopathy, etc. She has developed several new methods of diagnosis, medical and microsurgical treatment of diseases of the visual organs, including cataracts, glaucoma, corneal diseases, ocular complications of diabetes and more.

Education:

1973 – Kharkiv Medical Institute (diploma with with honors)

1974 – Kharkiv Medical Institute (diploma of “Ophthalmologist”).

Position:

1974–1975 – Institute of Problems of Cryobiology and Cryomedicine of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine – youngest researcher

1976–1987 – Kyiv Research Institute of Clinical and Experimental Surgery of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine – senior researcher, head of the Department of Eye Microsurgery.

1979 – PhD, Candidate of Medicine, title «The role of the posterior epithelium in graft engraftment of the native and cryopreserved cornea after penetrating keratoplasty».

1987-1995 – National Medical University named after O.O. Bogomolets- professor of Department of Ophthalmology and Head of the Department of Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology.

1995-2014 – Director of the Kyiv City Center for Vascular and Endocrine Diseases of the Visual Organs (now – Kyiv City Eye Center)

2014-present – Kiyv Medical University, Head of the Department of Surgical Diseases № 2 with of ophthalmology and scientific consultant of the KyivEye Center.

Scientific degree and scientific title:

1989 – MD degree, Doctor of Medical science Degree, title «Prediction and prevention of inflammatory reactions of the eye after cataract extraction with implantation of an artificial lens.

1991 – professor of department of ophthalmology in National Medical University named by OO Bogomolets

2001 – correspondent member of National Academy of Medical Science of Ukraine

more then 320 scientific publication, 7 books (Cataracta, Ultrasound diagnosis in oncology, Diabetes in the practice of family medicine, Terminology and Guideline for Glaucoma, Glaucoma, 35 national and international patents for inventions)

Member of:

the subcommittee of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine on the reformation of medical higher education; specialized scientific council of ophthyalmology in National Academy of Health of Ministry of Health of Ukraine; European Glaucoma Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, European Glaucoma Society, World Glaucoma Association and Presidium of the AAOIS. She is President of the Ukrainian Glaucoma Society and Vice President of the International Expert Council of Ophthalmologists on Glaucoma, Chairman of the International Educational Project "Ophthalmology" and Editor-in-Chief of the International Scientific and Practical Journal «Ophthalmology», Member of the Editorial Board of «Clinical Ophthalmology», «Egyptian Journal of opthalmology» «Glaucoma». She was awarded by Ministry of Health of Ukraine, Kyiv City Health Department, Primate of the Kyiv Orthodox Church and the Sign of Respect of the Kyiv Mayor. On the account of prof. Veselovskaya thousands of surgery and tens of thousands of consultations in the most complicated cases.

Since 2014 there is the intership in: Ophthalmology, Otorhinolaryngology, Oncology, Traumatology and O rthopedics, Neurosurgery.

Employees of the department have developed a complete set of multilingual methodological guidelines, published several manuals for students and teachers.

The research interests of the staff of the department include the development and implementation of new methods of diagnosis and treatment of diseases in the field of teaching, research and scientific work.

Two doctoral and two candidate works in ophthalmology and neurosurgery have been defended at the department.

The edition of the international scientific and practical journal “Ophthalmology” (included in the list of professional editions of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine) is established.

Work is conducted to organize scientific conferences with educational courses for students, interns and young professionals with the participation of leading experts in Europe and the United States.

Department of Surgical Diseases №2 was formed in Kyiv Medical University in 2015 to provide educational and research medical work in such as: ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology, oncology, neurosurgery and

orthopedics. The staff was formed in accordance with the profile of the department.
