Appeal of the results of the final controlAfter the results of the final assessment are announced, a student has the right to appeal the results of such assessment by submitting an appropriate application for appeal (https://kmu.edu.ua/en/e-international-faculty/). Appealing assessment results must be justified and may occur in the following cases: – violation by the examiner of the regulations for conducting the final control; – a significant discrepancy between the results of the final control and the current assessment; – conflict of interest; – academic or personal conflict between the examiner and a student; – absence of a question listed on the exam ticket in the approved list of questions for the final control; – poor quality of materials used during the final control (e.g., graphical materials, laboratory test results, audio/video files, images, reagents, instructions, etc.). – technical issues, breakdowns, failure of tools, equipment, laboratory systems, computer failure, etc; – inaccurately provided initial information (e.g., errors in the text, specific patient behaviors, etc.); – deterioration of health during the final control, properly documented; – other circumstances that significantly affected the result and are confirmed by the relevant evidence. The application for appeal is submitted to the Rector of the University personally by a student no later than the middle of the working day following the day of the final control. In the submitted application, a student must indicate the reasonable grounds for appealing the results of the final control. The application can be written both in paper and electronic form. The application can be sent via the corporate email address with the domain @kmu.edu.ua. An application received from the official corporate mail of a student in the @kmu.edu.ua domain is considered official and identified and is accepted for consideration. The application form is established by the relevant faculty. The application is submitted through the dean’s office of the faculty where a student is studying. The application of а student is signed by the Dean of the faculty and submitted to the Rector of the University. An appeal application submitted outside the established deadlines is not eligible for consideration.
Procedure for Reviewing Appeals An appeal application must be reviewed at a meeting of the appeals committee no later than three working days after its submission. А student has the right to be present at the meeting of the appeals committee. During the review of the appeal, the secretary of the appeals committee records the protocol, documenting all comments from committee members and the corresponding conclusions. The appeals committee, guided by the assessment criteria for the educational component:
If, as a result of the review, it is impossible to establish the validity of the student’s result, they are given the opportunity to retake the final test assessment using the same format and an equivalent number of similar test tasks. At the conclusion of the appeals committee meeting, the protocol containing the conclusions regarding the evaluation of the student’s exam responses are signed by the chairperson and the secretary of the appeals committee. The results of the appeal are announced to the student immediately after the review of their work is completed. The decision of the appeals committee is made by a majority vote of its total membership. In case of equality of votes, the decision supported by the chairperson of the committee is adopted. If the student is absent from the meeting of the appeals committee, the committee secretary makes an appropriate note in the protocol of the meeting. The result of the appeal review is the adoption by the appeals committee of one of the following two decisions:
