International cooperation in action: combining expertise to develop an advanced simulation center

On February 18, 2026, Kyiv Medical University hosted a working meeting with representatives of the Polish organization REAGO, which specializes in medical evacuation and simulation-based training. The visit was initiated within the framework of expanding cooperation with the partners’ Simulation Center in Warsaw and aimed at strengthening collaboration in Ukraine.

During the delegation’s visit, the following activities were organized:

  •  a working meeting with the University’s leadership;
  • a presentation of the University’s Simulation Center activities;
  • a tour of the University’s educational infrastructure;
  • a visit to the facilities located at the Emergency Hospital, where the concept of establishing an advanced simulation center was presented;
  • a guided tour of the Museum of the History of Medicine.

During the meeting, it was emphasized that the University has already integrated standardized training programs in tactical medicine and first aid into its educational process.

Particular attention was given to the strategic location within the Emergency Hospital, where several University departments are based and where continuous professional development (CPD) programs for physicians are regularly conducted. This setting positions the facility as an optimal platform for the establishment of a comprehensive training center.

An important element of the program was the visit to the Museum of the History of Medicine, where guests were introduced to key exhibits and the University’s historical heritage.

As a result of the meeting, the following areas for further cooperation were identified:

  1. Establishment of a joint Center for Medical and Dental Simulations incorporating European training standards.

  2. Organization of joint scientific and practical conferences, including thematic events dedicated to the experience of the Ukrainian healthcare system under wartime conditions.

  3. Implementation of certified CPD programs with international mobility between Ukraine and Poland.

  4. Development of a unique educational model that systematically integrates training in tactical medicine, disaster response, and psychological resilience into the education of future physicians and dentists.

The meeting confirmed the mutual interest of both parties in building a strategic partnership aimed at advancing practice-oriented medical education and implementing modern European standards in the training of healthcare professionals.
