Specialization in Surgical Dermatology at Kyiv Medical University

Surgical dermatology is a unique combination of dermatological knowledge and modern surgical techniques. It opens up opportunities for high-quality diagnosis and treatment of neoplasms, scars, skin diseases, and many other conditions.

This specialization is especially relevant for dermatovenereologists. Today, it is one of the most popular specialties in the internship program at our university. Each year, about 50 doctors enroll in this field of study.

According to recent regulatory changes in the professional activity of dermatovenereologists, certain interventions now require an additional specialization. Kyiv Medical University, always keeping pace with the times and committed to providing the most up-to-date knowledge from leading experts, has launched the Specialization in Surgical Dermatology.

 The program lasts 9 months and includes mastering a wide range of practical skills:
 performing biopsies (punch, incisional, excisional)
 removal of benign skin neoplasms
 application of cryo-, electro-, and laser destruction techniques
 basic skills of applying surgical sutures using plastic techniques
 postoperative care and complication prevention
 reconstructive techniques and skin flap formation

Today’s photos show our doctors already practicing the essential skills of plastic suturing, as well as postoperative care and complication prevention. This is just the first step toward more complex and exciting practical tasks awaiting participants of the program.
