Dear students and colleagues!

I heartily congratulate all of you on the beginning of the 2020/2021 academic year, which we are launching on September 1st, despite the difficult epidemic situation in Ukraine. I wish everyone good health, endurance, and a relentless desire for academic excellence during this academic year.🔔

I want to express my gratitude to everyone within KMU community for the tremendous job that allowed us to successfully fulfill the curriculum and complete the previous academic year in the conditions of strict quarantine. It was a hard challenge for whole team to master distance learning technologies in a short time. And we have successfully overcame this challenge.

❗ However, the quarantine continues and is currently extended until October 31, 2020.

In a case of minimizing the risks of spread of COVID-19 and taking into account the requirements and recommendations of the WHO, Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the University issued an order “On the educational process in the autumn-winter semester 2020-2021”, which provides a set of measures to counteract this insidious disease. Under conditions of adaptive quarantine, the organization of the educational process will be fully compliant and, if necessary, will be changed depending on the epidemiological situation in Kyiv and other locations of our academic consortium.

I draw your attention that it is crucial to maintain social distance, avoid crowding places, use personal protective equipment, follow the rules of respiratory hygiene. In addition, you should
undergo regular temperature screening, wash your hands and disinfect them with sanitizers. Strict adherence to these simple rules can significantly reduce the risk of COVID-19 infection and its further spread.

Due to quarantine restrictions, the educational process at the University will be carried out in a mixed format – a combination of full-time study and distance learning on digital platforms
(Google Suite for Education and “PrExam” platform), which is an unique product of the University and allows to effectively prepare for the KROK exams).

🍁In September lectures for Second to Fifth year of study students will be held online. Practical classes will begin in October this year. I want to remind you that in order to use online
educational resources, every student must have a corporate e-mail (ending with @kmu.edu.ua), which is provided by University free of charge. For students of the final year of the Medical faculty practical classes will be conducted both with the use of distance learning platforms and in the offline format.

The dedication ceremony to the students of Kyiv Medical University is planned for September 1️⃣8️⃣, 2020. During the dedication, our first-year students will meet the leadership, faculty members and representatives of the student government, as well as obtain all necessary information about studying at the University. Classes for them will begin in the offline format on September 2️⃣1️⃣, 2020.

Enrollment of foreign citizens to the first year of study will be carried out until November 1, 2020. This period may be extended.

Undoubtedly, the COVID-19 pandemic is a great challenge for all mankind and every individual. Of course, working in an adaptive quarantine and “mixed format” of training requires concentration, mobilization of intellectual resources and additional time to learn new skills. But, as Lao Tzu said: “The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”

I am sure that the high professionalism and qualification of teachers combined with the motivation of students to master the profession of a doctor will help us successfully overcome all difficulties and make our university even more powerful and antifragile.

Stay healthy and let this academic year open new horizons of knowledge, become a time of high achievements, bright successes and realization of dreams.
